Den helt nya F-150 kommer snart

Det går bra med omställningen. I måndags den 22 sept körde de en testgrupp på 13 trucks genom monteringen. Det som fattas är målningsdelen. De blir klara först om någon vecka. 26 oktober är officiellt startdatum för den nya F-150 med Sintercast CGI i blocken. Detta datum är nu ( 30 sept) ändrat till den 20 okt. Det har tydligen gått bra med omställningen av Dearbornfabriken.

The plant will recall two of its three crews of workers Sept. 22 to make pre-production models.
När de är i full drift gör de 63 trucks i timmen. Dygnet runt. Veckan runt. Inte alla har dock CGI i blocken. Det finns tre olika att välja på och bara den ena har CGI i blocket.

Produktionen håller alltså redan att varva upp. Sintercast bör vara förbi 2 milj-målet. Skall vi gissa på en annonsering en vecka in på Q4 ?

About 3,000 Michigan workers went on temporary layoff last month. About 1,200 are returning this week where they will began to assemble pre-production trucks in the new body shop. Those truck bodies will go through the paint shop and final assembly beginning next week.

2.7-liter EcoBoost engine: The 2.7-liter is the latest in Ford’s EcoBoost family of turbocharged, direct-injection gasoline engines. It offers stop-start for the first time in a pickup. And it is Ford’s first use of a compacted graphite iron cylinder block in a gasoline engine, the same material Ford uses in its 6.7-liter PowerStroke diesel.

The engine’s cylinder heads have cast-in, or integrated, exhaust manifolds to reduce turbo lag and cut weight. Variable valve timing boosts torque. On Texas Hill Country roads near here, the pickup felt quick and responsive.

The 2.7-liter EcoBoost, which cranks out 325 hp and 375 pounds-feet of torque, is priced $795 above the base 3.5-liter V-6, but Ford is offering a $300 spiff during the launch, bringing the premium down to $495. Ford says the 2.7-liter engine gives the F-150 a payload rating of 2,250 pounds and that the F-150 can tow a maximum of 8,500 pounds. The Ford Edge Sport, coming in 2015, will be the second vehicle to get the 2.7-liter EcoBoost.

MAN med en ny CGI motor som heter D 3876

Tidigare är deras D20 och D26 motorer i CGI. Nu får de en till. Klart till kund redan nu

High-strength materials save 160 kg of weight

MAN has used the high-strength material GJV450 (cast iron with vermicular graphite) for the engine block and cylinder head.

As a six-cylinder in-line engine, the new D3876 shares the same basic design and high-tensile materials with the D20/D26 engines and is therefore built around a design that has proved itself over millions of miles. This includes the use of cast iron with vermicular graphite (GJV450) for the engine block and the cylinder head and the solid basic geometry of the engine and the crankshaft main bearing.

Visas i Paris den 4 okt 2014.

New EA 288 , 237bhp 2.0 TDI BiTurbo engine, developing 500Nm of torque.

Det är 62 hkr ( 35 % ) mera och 120 Nm ( 32 %) mera än deras tidigare 2-liters EA 288 motor. Snacka upp uppgradering. ……….

I så fall i mycket stora antal. Kan det vara så att Mortimers uppgiftslämnare blandade ihop de två motorerna EA288 och EA 888? I så fall så är det dags nu.  Det är mer logiskt att CGI skulle komma först i en diesel än i en bensinare. Först när dieseltekniken är fullt penetrerad kommer bensinare att behöva CGI.

Starkaste dieselmotorn benämns 2,0 TDI 4Motion GTS och är som beteckningen avslöjar fyrhjulsdriven. Här har Volkswagen pressat upp effekten till hela 240 hästkrafter och vridmomentet till 500 newtonmeter jämnt. Det gör dieselkombin rasande snabb. 0-100 km/h, för kombiversionen som tidigare nämnt, går på 6,3 sekunder. Toppfarten är 238 km/h. Förbrukningen uppges till 0,54 liter per mil och koldioxidutsläppet till 140 gram per kilometer.

VW confirms EA888 has CGI cylinder block

Volkswagen AG has confirmed that the latest version of the EA888 engine, production of which has just started at the company’s which new engine factory in Silao, Mexico, does have a cylinder block cast in compacted graphite iron (CGI).

Wolfsburg officials decline to name the foundry but most likely it is Tupy SA, in Joinville, Brazil, the world’s leading supplier of CGI cylinder blocks. Tupy already sources CGI blocks to Audi, a VW subsidiary. Tupy SA uses SinterCast’s CGI process control technology to achieve high standards of materials consistency and quality. For this contract, Tupy will source the CGI castings from its foundry in Saltillo, Mexico where SinterCast installed two of its lines earlier this year.

 

A spokesman said: “I have been informed by our Wolfsburg colleagues that we will not be revealing current production numbers at Silao.  Please understand that this is as frustrating for us as it is for you.”

He added: “This is a new version of the engine, but not the same version as that in the Golf GTI Mk7.  Production officially started on 16 January this year.  I can confirm the block does indeed use CGI. I do know that Silao is producing the EA888 engine specifically for the North American and Mexican plants.”

SCOOP: CGI set for four-cylinder engine blocks

Confirmation that four-cylinder engines with compacted graphite iron (CGI) cylinder blocks are now not far away from volume production comes with the revelation that Grainger & Worrall (G&W) has been casting prototype blocks for some time.

According to sources, the company has been casting four-cylinder blocks for over 12 months. Typical batch sizes range from 50 units, plus or minus 10 or 20 units.

It is understood the engines are destined for a European passenger car. The cylinder blocks are small, compact four-cylinder units, according to well-placed sources.

In June of this year, autoindustrynewsletter.blogspot.co.uk revealed that Volkswagen had confirmed that its EA888 gasoline engine would have CGI cylinder blocks. The news item is one of the most actively trafficked reports of the blogspot

BMW                     190bhp    and   400Nm torque.

Jaguar                    180bhp   and   430Nm  torque

VW                          237 bhp  and  500 Nm torque

 

OM det är så att VW har uppnått dessa siffror med CGI hur tror ni de andra tillverkarna reagerar, och agerar?
